1.Matti Makkonen, who worked to launch the world wide sensation of texting, died at the age of 63.He is  known as the father of SMS.
2.Spiritual leader Ravi Shanker Peru's one of the highest honors 'Grand officer' for social work through his foundation  'The Art of Living'.
3.Sanjeev Galande,the noted scientist has been selected for the prestigious G D Birla Award for 2014 for his research in the field  of epigenetics and molecular cell biology.
4.Cuba became the first country in the world to eliminate  mother-to-child HIV transmission (World Health Organisation announced).
5.NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) unveiled a boomerang shaped space craft that could be the first to take flight on Mars.


6.Indo-American professor R.Paul Singh has been named as the  2015 Global Confederation for Higher Education Associations for Agriculture and Life Sciences World Agriculture Prize laureate.
7.The Railway Police started implementing 'Operation Muskaan' to trace missing and destitute children and reunite them with their parents.
8.Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar launched a new software ARPAN 3.0 for 12 lakh soldiers of  Indian Army, which  provide them easy access to their service records including pay and leave details etc.
9.Former Indian player Hrishikesh Kanitkar retires from  International  Cricket to concentrate on coaching assignments  in the near future.
